Ashley K. Fernandes, MD, PhD, is the Associate Director of the Center for Bioethics at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, as well as an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Focusing on bioethics and professionalism educational scholarship, he has been appointed the Director of Competency for Professionalism at the College of Medicine in 2019. He currently directs ethics education for pediatric residents at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, and was a member of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital ethics committee from 2016-2018. He was the Chair of the ethics committee at Dayton Children’s Hospital for 6 years before coming to Columbus. His scholarly interests include Medicine and the Holocaust studies, pediatric ethics, and philosophical anthropology as it relates to medical practice and social justice. He has also practiced both hospital and ambulatory pediatrics.
This talk will detail end of life issues as well as various other ethical dilemmas. The event will benefit the St. Vincent Family Center. In lieu of admission, please bring a donation of toys and games, books, or hygiene items.
